Watch Description

The Grand Seiko GMT watch that celebrates the ever-changing seasons.

In 2019, Grand Seiko unveiled the Japan Seasons collection. That initial launch featured four watches — SBGA413 (Shunbun), SBGH271 (Rikka), SBGH273 (Shubun) and SBGA415 (Taisetsu) — each of them representing one of Japan’s twenty-four sekki (micro-seasons) that mark the progression of the four seasons. In 2020, Grand Seiko expanded the collection with two special edition timepieces (SBGA427 and SBGA429) exclusive to the United States and named after one of the twenty-four sekki known in Japan as Sōkō.

For 2021, Grand Seiko presents four new timepieces continuing the brand’s exploration of the twenty-four sekki: SBGJ249 (Shōsho), SBGJ251 (Shunbun), SBGE269 (Tōji), and SBGE271 (Kanro).

In Kanro, autumn is at its height, and reference SBGE271 forecasts a cloudy, moonlight sky on its dial. For fans and owners of SBGA413 and SBGA415, the two original Spring Drive models from the Seasons Collection, the dial here should be greatly familiar, featuring a similar pattern rendered in black.

Caliber 9R66 is a Spring Drive GMT. Produced at the Shinshu Watch Studio in Nagano, Spring Drive is a proprietary movement that combines a mainspring with an electro-magnetic regulator that functions without an external power source. It delivers a precision of one second a day, offers 72 hours of power reserve and has a second hand that advances in a smooth, gliding motion, a feature unique to Spring Drive.

# Grand Seiko Kanro Elegance Collection Autumn Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Grand Seiko Kanro from the Elegance Collection Autumn is a masterful limited-edition dress watch capturing the serene beauty of the Kanro solar term with its gradient textured dial mimicking dew drops on spider silk transitioning from shimmering silver to deep indigo, housing the manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 9R65 with glide-motion seconds, independent GMT, power reserve indicator, and an impressive 72-hour power reserve, perfect for the refined traveler and collector who values poetic Japanese artistry paired with cutting-edge horology.

## Overall Watch Rating: 8.8/10.0

**Brand Metric (9.2/10.0)** - As a cornerstone of modern luxury with unmatched craftsmanship, it matches Rolex's prestige while exceeding in artisanal detail.
**Versatility Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Its slim profile, GMT function, and refined aesthetic transition seamlessly from boardroom to global travel like a classic IWC Portugieser.
**Complications Metric (8.2/10.0)** - The independent GMT and power reserve indicator provide practical utility on par with entry-level Zenith El Primero chronographs.
**Functions Metric (7.5/10.0)** - Core timekeeping with GMT and reserve display offers solid everyday utility similar to a mid-tier Nomos Club Campus.
**Rarity Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Limited to 1,300 pieces at its price point, it holds scarcity akin to many Oris limited editions but with superior execution.

## Total Performance Score (TPS): 5.2

## WM Collector Grade: B+

## Performance Insights: Excels in movement, materials, and design with strong brand heritage, though functions are solid rather than exceptional, delivering strong value well above its implied price benchmark.
## TPS Interpretation: Good Value: The watch overdelivers on premium innovation and aesthetics for its luxury price tier, appealing to collectors seeking understated excellence.
